Capital is defined as "wealth in the form of money or other assets owned by a person or organization or available or contributed for a particular purpose such as starting a company or investing."

There are a lot of things we call money but they may not actually qualify as money or assets. Assets use to be defined as "Goods or estate of a deceased person, sufficient to pay the debts of the deceased."

The move away from "money" toward "legal tender" was a move away from the essential elements of Capitalism. Legal tender is a legal offer, in place of payment of debt, and does not lawfully pay a debt. Although it may legally discharge debt, the tender or offer does not pay the debt at law. “There is a distinction between a debt discharged and one paid. When discharged the debt still exists, though divested of its character as a legal obligation during the operation of the discharge. Something of the original vitality of the debt continues to exist…”.

Where does this debt continue?

Stanek vs White goes on to say, “…which may be transferred, even though the transferee takes it subject to its disability incident to the discharge. The fact that it carries something which may be a consideration for a new promise to pay, so as to make an otherwise worthless promise a legal obligation, makes it the subject of transfer by assignment”.

There are long term repercussions and hidden shifts within society concerning what we call "legal title". Such titles do not include true and actual ownership, the Beneficial interest, nor profit, and therefore is no longer private. This was all a part of a shift away from "an economic system in which capital assets are privately owned and goods and services are produced for profit in a market economy."

Contributing to that shift was the redefining of basic terms. In Webster's 1828 dictionary Capital was defined as "stock, is the sum of money or stock which a merchant, banker or manufacturer employs in his business; either the original stock, or that stock augmented. Also, the sum of money or stock which each partner contributes to the joint fund or stock of the partnership; also, the common fund or stock of the company, whether incorporated or not."

But also at that time money was defined as "Coin; stamped metal; any piece of metal, usually gold, silver or copper, stamped by public authority, and used as the medium of commerce. We sometimes give the name of money to other coined metals, and to any other material which rude nations use a medium of trade. But among modern commercial nations, gold, silver and copper are the only metals used for this purpose. Gold and silver, containing great value in small compass, and being therefore of easy conveyance, and being also durable and little liable to diminution by use, are the most convenient metals for coin or money which is the representative of commodities of all kinds, of lands, and of every thing that is capable of being transferred in commerce."

There was a secondary reference of  "Bank notes or bills of credit issued by authority" but only if they are "exchangeable for coin or redeemable" and they are only "called" money

So notes at best are a substitute for money. In other words notes, even before they are no longer redeemable in lawful money, are as valuable to you as SPAM, a "Substitute Posing As Money".

Democracy by its very nature is the use of force to compel the minority to conform to the will of the majority.  Democratic socialists are even worse because they believe that being a democracy gives them a license to take from their neighbor.

Industry and the lifestyle of Americans prospered under the idea that Democracy was not a good thing and remnants of capitalism were still intact:
* “DEMOCRACY: A government of the masses. Authority derived through mass meeting or any form of direct expression. Results in mobocracy. Attitude toward property is communistic - negating property rights. Attitude toward law is that the will of the majority shall regulate, whether it is based upon deliberation or governed by passion, prejudice, and impulse, without restraint or regard for consequences. Results in demagogism, license, agitation, discontent, anarchy.” 1928 The United States Army Training Manual

As this country and its people moved from a Republic into the paternal arms of the United States a democracy within a republic it began the process of debt and decline under a redefinition of democracy by June 1952:

: “Meaning of democracy: Because the United States is a democracy, the majority of the people decide how our government will be organized and run - and that includes the Army, Navy and Air Force. The people do this by electing representatives, and these men and women carry out the wishes of the people.” -Army Field Manual Soldier’s Guide,1952.

So the real failure of the people was the idea that it was okay to force one class of citizen to give up what they earned so that another could enjoy the fruits of another's labor. This single act of society and willingness to justify that covetousness of the people altered the soul of society.

The acceptance of the immoral premise that forcing your neighbor to give up what he or she produced undermined not only the natural drive to produce but the very institution where production begins, the family.

The very acceptance of the idea that force is better for the health of society than charity and hope undermines the compassion of the very heart of society. The relief from consequences of sloth by forcing burdens upon the industrious has long-range consequences that corrupt the natural drive of society from which society seldom recovers.

The issue is debated but the understanding is only for those who see the whole truth. Those who are self-righteous and/or covetous cannot see that their Welfare undermines the very fabric of society any more than the Pharisees could see that their Corban made the word of God to none effect.

Paul stated in 2 Thessalonians 3:10 that those who will not work shall not eat. This is Chauncey's basis for his position: "...And, so far as appears to me, it would be an evident Breach of the Law of the Gospel, as well as of Nature, to bestow upon those the Bread of Charity, who might earn and eat their own Bread, if they did not shamefully idle away their time." Thomas Sowell argues that the Welfare Type based on force actually undermines the natural incentive of society which becomes more dependent upon handouts. While the woman talks about built-in expectation about the quality of life and the quality of jobs and income one expects in return, who built this expectation in and why is it to be provided at another's expense?

If someone wishes to subsidize the expectation of others they may have that right but they should do it with their own money and not that which they take from others.

One problem is the premise that someone should get something for nothing, like the "ill-equipped employees" working for salaries as social workers when they are not adequately trained and maintain poor or low skills is just another example of the trap and snare of the soul such welfare produces.

The idea that the alternatives are only two, get a job or be subsidized by government, is the basis of a big lie. People did help one another for centuries and it is the fabric of charity woven in the lives of the people that makes society strong and binds it in ways that strengthen the poor.

It is true that the poor you will have with you always as Jesus said. The amount of poor may change. There is a responsibility and duty to help your fellow man but it is only help if you are strengthening the poor. The manner in which you enlist to implement that help will determine not only the strength of the poor but the strength of society as a whole.

Being poor in itself is not a virtue and if you are slothful and do not care for your own needs you should not be allowed to live at the expense of others who do work diligently. Even the New Testament warns us about those who do not work.

But we should have an efficient way of helping those who may need help in hope that others will help us if we ever fall on hard times. All successfully free societies have such systems but they are rooted in individual choice in order to remain free and strong. The sin of Sodom was it was a welfare state and that weakened the poor rather than cause them to become stronger.

Those who indulge in the socialist practice of rewarding those who are both evil and slothful will lead society to destruction.<Ref>Isaiah 3:9 "The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide [it] not. Milton Friedman notes that during the rise of capitalism there was never a more charitable and eleemosynary society. It was the advent of the welfare state which brought about a slow corruption and even abdication of the private charities that had previously been so effective.

To provide for the welfare of the individual by any other means other than individual choice and fervent charity opens the doors of a once free people to corruption and sloth of the masses, and therefore draws despotism.
The only antidote for the chaos and degenerating influence is individual care for others through charity.
Inequality comes by the nature of life. The equality of opportunity is the best you can hope for in a free society where every individual begins with the power of choice.
The perfect law of liberty requires moral diligence, industry, and a way of caring for the needy through charity alone.
There is nothing more degenerating for the masses and destructive to society than the welfare state. Legal charity through the power of the state is the first tool of tyrants and the most effective.
Legal charity and the "wages of unrighteousness" are like Plutarch's "gift, gratuities and benefits is the greatest destroyer of liberty".[1]
The roots of the welfare state will degenerate the diligence and industry of the people while undermining the primary social bonds of a free society, the family and community replacing them with the bands which will "ruin the people"[2] Without "welfare by charity alone" there will be no liberty. Pure Religion was the welfare of the righteous. Socialism is the religion of people that have abandoned pure Religion through charity and hope by faith in the perfect law of liberty.

Social safety net

When an American or any nation accepts the idea that rulers[3] of the State have the right or obligation to tax its citizens in any manner or by any means to provide a social safety net for the needy of the masses their liberty[4] will be destroyed[5] and their nation is doomed.

Thou shalt not covet[6] does not have an exception clause for people who have more than you.[7] To desire that men in government who exercise authority[3] tke from other because you desire benefits is idolatry.[8]

The Welfare State

What are the roots of the Welfare State?

If we ask about the Paternal nature of governments of the world we may think we need government to provide a social safety net.

From the ancient governments of Babylon and Sumer or Ephesus and Rome to the more modern nation like Canada, Australia, Great Britain or the US their citizen are expected to sign up for their government run Social safety nets.

This was true at the time of the Herod, John the Baptist and the early Church. It was so important that Christ and the Apostles addressed this controversial topic in great detail. In dealing with the welfare offered by rulers in Judea who sat in the seat of Moses, or the heads of those system of free bread offered by Rome Christ and His followers would not sign up. .

Christ saw that the Pharisees had instituted a social welfare scheme through the authority of Herod with a membership recorded with a form of rabbinical baptism. The system was identified as the Corban of the pharisees but was said to make the word of God to none effect. It evidently caused sons to do less for their parents but more important was that it was based on coveting what was your neighbor's.

It was the social safety net warned about by Proverbs where men developed an appetite for the dainties of rulers. David had said that there was a welfare that was a trap, and Paul would quote him referring to those tables as a "snare and trap".[4]

Peter tells us that those covetous practices would make masses little more than merchandise as literal human resources of those governments and curse children with an unpayable debt. But of course many others like Polybius, Plutarch and Juvenal warned that such systems would weaken the people and give rise to tyranny.

The early Church offered the Corban of Christ through the fervent charity and the practice of Pure Religion. That was The Way of a righteousness and it would replace the Corban of the Pharisees, and the egalitarian model of Free bread through the Imperial Cult of Rome. Jesus was not a socialist and He and all the prophets condemned both systems of social welfare through the State as the works of iniquity.

This would be the major source of the Christian conflict with Rome.

Fathers of society

"Who's your Daddy?"

Rome had its Patronus and Conscripted fathers, its Pater Patriae‎. Caesar, the Senate and other "men who called themselves benefactors" were the fathers of the earth Jesus warned us about.

Since, history repeats itself there may not be much difference between Rome and the US today if we look closely at some of their essential the elements.

Both went the way of Socialism which brought a weakening of the people as a free society. The Socialist wants to blame others for its failures, even Capitalism which by itself normally puts the means of production in the hands of the people.

Creeping lies

There was evidence of a difference in American thought creeping in back in the days of Davy Crockett and Horatio Bunce which all Americans should study.

Was there a failure of capitalism?

Do people even know what it is?

Do they know what socialism is and why Jesus was not a socialist?

What is Capitalism?

  • "Capitalism is an economic system in which capital assets are privately owned and goods and services are produced for profit in a market economy." At the base of all Capitalism is the private ownership of the means of production which is labor of the individual. The alternative is bondage. State controlled capitalism is not real capitalism but pseudo capitalism. Real capitalism requires real capital like Pure Religion requires real fervent charity.
Milton Friedman - Roots Of The Welfare State 15:27

Walter Williams has shown by facts, history, and data that it is the welfare state that has done to black Americans what slavery and Jim Crow laws could never do: destroy the black family. FDR, LBJ's welfare state is destroy the US. People like Cloward and Piven used their war on poverty to drive nails into the Republic much like Caesar did in Rome with their free bread and Herod did with his Corban.

Lack knowledge

A CBS/New York Times survey found that only 16% of millennials and 30% of Americans over 30 could even define socialism and only groups on the right could accurately define “socialism”. A survey concerning the word “capitalism” produced similar results. Even leaders of the democratic party and many of the Republicans do not seem to be able to define these words.

The popularity of the left seems to be born out of ignorance. But thanks to the media it has been energized by hate, first by a clear bias hatred of Trump that has expanded to hatred for police and the very government that provides those benefits so desired by the same voters on the left. I guess that is what makes them “useful idiots”.

"The most damage done to black Americans is inflicted by those politicians, civil rights leaders and academics who assert that every problem confronting blacks is a result of a legacy of slavery and discrimination. That’s a vision that guarantees perpetuity for the problems." Walter E. Williams professor of economics at George Mason University.

Capital is defined as "wealth in the form of money or other assets owned by a person or organization or available or contributed for a particular purpose such as starting a company or investing."

There are a lot of things we call money or use for money but they may not actually qualify as real money or assets for the purpose of true capitalism. Assets use to be defined as "Goods or estate of a deceased person, sufficient to pay the debts of the deceased."

The move away from "real money" toward "legal tender" was a move away from the essential elements of Capitalism. Something of the original vitality of the debt continues to exist…”.[9]

There are long term repercussions and hidden shifts within society concerning what we call "legal title". Such titles do not include true and actual ownership, the Beneficial interest, nor profit, and therefore is no longer private.[11] This was all a part of a shift away from "an economic system in which capital assets are privately owned and goods and services are produced for profit in a market economy."

There was a secondary reference of "Bank notes or bills of credit issued by authority" but only if they are "exchangeable for coin or redeemable" and they are only "called" money[12]

So notes at best are a substitute for money. In other words notes, even before they are no longer redeemable in lawful money, are as valuable to you as SPAM, a "Substitute Posing As Money".

Results in demagogism, license, agitation, discontent, anarchy.” 1928 The United States Army Training Manual

As this country and its people moved from a Republic into the paternal arms of the United States a democracy within a republic[13] it began the process of debt and decline under a redefinition of democracy by June 1952:

“Meaning of democracy: Because the United States is a democracy, the majority of the people decide how our government will be organized and run - and that includes the Army, Navy and Air Force. The people do this by electing representatives, and these men and women carry out the wishes of the people.” -Army Field Manual Soldier’s Guide,1952.

Between these two publications, there was the New Deal, World War II, both overseen by the policies of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The real failure of the people was the acceptance of the idea that it was okay to force one class of citizen to give up what they earned so that another could enjoy the fruits of another's labor.

Social safety net

The idea of a "social safety net" provided through a civil authority is as old as the first city-state but the use of the phrase was popularized in the 1990's at least by the Bretton Woods Institutions which used the term frequently in relation to their structural adjustment programs that has altered the world and the people of it.

The idea of what the state should do to provide General Welfare and what the phrase actually means has been debated since it appeared in the Constitution of the United States. Versions of that phrase could include the “public good” or the “common good”, or even the "greater good". Before these phrases and the ideas that they may represent were historically, socially, and political debated. The core questions in that debate involves not only custom and culture but also the means and methods by which that welfare is established. The natural concerns in society with "public health and safety" but also "morals and peace".

A social safety net through legal charity of the welfare state rather than fervent charity is an abandonment of faith for force, love for Licentiousness. The masses forsake the righteousness of God for the city of blood.

So, it is clear that the socialist is a violent person who believes in force and desires to take from his neighbor is covetous practices that will make him merchandise and curse children as a surety for debt. He calls upon the government to take a bite out of his neighbor and will ultimately be devoured in his iniquity because of his desire for the wages of unrighteousness.

Does the Welfare State Reduce Poverty and Inequality or Encourage Dependency? (1995). Marvin Olasky interview about his book "The Tragedy of American Compassion" and his research into the history of charity and welfare. Olasky points out throughout the book that in 1752, Charles Chauncey exhorted Society that the Poor should only go to those who could not help themselves, not to the those able but unwilling to work.

One problem is the premise that someone should get something for nothing, like the "ill-equipped employees" working for salaries as social workers when they are not adequately trained and maintain poor or low skills is just another example of the trap and snare[14] of the soul such welfare produces.

The idea that the alternatives are only two, get a job or be subsidized by government, is the basis of a big lie. People did help one another for centuries and it is the fabric of charity woven in the lives of the people that makes society strong and binds it in ways that strengthen the poor.[15]

It is true that the poor you will have with you always as Jesus said. The amount of poor may change. There is a responsibility and duty to help your fellow man but it is only help if you are strengthening the poor. The manner in which you enlist to implement that help will determine not only the strength of the poor but the strength of society as a whole.

Being poor in itself is not a virtue and if you are slothful and do not care for your own needs you should not be allowed to live at the expense of others who do work diligently.[16] Even the New Testament warns us about those who do not work.[17]

Those who indulge in the socialist practice of rewarding those who are both evil and slothful will lead society to destruction.[19]

Milton Friedman notes that during the rise of capitalism there was never a more charitable and eleemosynary society. It was the advent of the welfare state which brought about a slow corruption and even abdication of the private charities that had previously been so effective.

This charity in society was not only rooted in the duties of the Church but was one of its driving purposes as a Benefactor of the people, through the people and by the people. The Church is the one form of government that does not exercise authority one over the other.

The methods you use to aid and strengthen those in need is within your society, in truth, is your religion. Socialism is the religion you get when you have no religion. In fact the Bible defines Pure Religion as taking care of the needy of your society without the governments of the world. Polybius warned what happens to societies that live at the expense of their neighbor. When socialist governments like that of Cain, Nimrod, or Pharaoh provide for the people liberty is lost and tyranny will soon reign.

There was ample warnings in the Bible concerning social safety nets established through covetous practices[7] of men who call themselves Benefactors but exercise authority one over the other[3] because they are a snare and a trap[4] that makes men merchandise entangling them again in the yoke of bondage.

Abraham brought "many souls" out of the clutches of Sumerian Ur, Haran, and Sodom. Moses delivered a nation from the bondage of Egypt. And Jesus set the captive from the Corban of Rome, Herod and the Pharisees through the Corban of Christ which was a daily ministration of the social safety net of pure Religion based on faith, hope, and charity rather than the civil law.

Luke 22:25 "And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors. But ye [shall] not [be] so:..."
  4. 4.0 4.1 4.2 Table as a snare
Psalms 69:22-23 “Let their table become a snare before them: and that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap. 23 Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins continually to shake."”
Romans 11:9 “And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them:”
Proverbs 23:1 "When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what [is] before thee: 2 And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite. 3 Be not desirous of his dainties: for they are deceitful meat."
Exodus 23:32 "Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods. 33 They shall not dwell in thy land, lest they make thee sin against me: for if thou serve their gods, it will surely be a snare unto thee."
Exodus 34:12 "Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee:"
Deuteronomy 7:16 "And thou shalt consume all the people which the LORD thy God shall deliver thee; thine eye shall have no pity upon them: neither shalt thou serve their gods; for that [will be] a snare unto thee."
Judges 2:2 "And ye shall make no league [covenant] with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice: why have ye done this?"
Proverbs 1:10 "My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not."
Proverbs 6:2 “Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.” Swear not
Luke 21:34 "And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and [so] that day come upon you unawares. 35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth."
1 Timothy 6:9 "But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and [into] many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."
  5. Destroyers of liberty
"That the man who first ruined the Roman people twas he who first gave them treats and gratuities. But this mischief crept secretly and gradually in, and did not openly make it's appearance in Rome for a considerable time." Plutarch's Life of Coriolanus (c. 100 AD.) This would include Julius Caesar and eventually Augustus Caesar which is why Plutarch also reported, “The real destroyers of the liberties of the people is he who spreads among them bounties, donations, and benefits.” This was a major theme of the Bible:
There were tables of welfare which were both snares and a traps as David and Paul stated and Peter warned would make us merchandise and curse children. Proverbs 23 told us not to not eat the "dainties" offered at those tables of Rulers and Paul says in 1 Corinthians 10 we cannot eat of those tables and the table of the Lord. We are not to consent to their covetous systems of One purse or Corban which makes the word of God to none effect.
We know when the masses become accustomed to those benefits of legal charity which are the rewards of unrighteousness provided by benefactors who exercise authority and the Fathers of the earth through the covetous practices that makes men merchandise and curse children as a surety for debt.
  6. Covet not
Exodus 20:17 "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that [is] thy neighbour’s."
Deuteronomy 5:21 "Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour’s wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour’s house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any [thing] that [is] thy neighbour’s."
Micah 2:2 "And they covet fields, and take [them] by violence; and houses, and take [them] away: so they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage." Property and inheritance tax.
Habakkuk 2:9 "Woe to him that coveteth an evil covetousness to his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evil! 10 Thou hast consulted shame to thy house by cutting off many people, and hast sinned against thy soul."
Mark 7:20 "And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. 21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: 23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man."
Romans 7:7 "What shall we say then? [Is] the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet."
Romans 13:9 "For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if [there be] any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."
1 Corinthians 5:10 "Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. 11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat."
1 Corinthians 6:10 "Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God." See Not inherit the kingdom
Ephesians 5:5 "For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God." See Not inherit the kingdom
2 Timothy 3:2 "For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
2 Peter 2:3 "And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not."
2 Peter 2:14 "Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:"

Luke 12:15 "And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth."
Luke 16:14 "And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him. 15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God."
Luke 21:34 "And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and [so] that day come upon you unawares. 35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth."
Matthew 19:17 "And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? [there is] none good but one, [that is], God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments."
John 14:15 "If ye love me, keep my commandments."
John 14:21 "He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him."
