Walled camp
People hear me talking about the walled in camp back when the levites were called out by Moses and they ask where that is talked about in the Bible.
Words are the symbols of ideas and there are many kinds of walls and the word camp has several meanings as well.
In Exodus 32 Moses calls out the faithful or at least those who will stand "on the LORD’S side".
- Exodus 32:26 Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD’S side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.
He was standing in the gate at the time. The gate of what? The walled in camp.
Was it a high wall or was it just a small defensive barrier?
We know they feared the enemy while Moses was gone onto the mountain. That was why they built the golden calf.
Understanding that the golden calf was a way to bind the people together and demand their loyalty by centralizing a major means of accumulating portable wealth is very important to understanding the whole message about idols made by the hand of man and covenants with strange gods.
But the point here is that Moses is talking about gates in some sort of a barrier or wall that keeps people out or in, or just binds the people together.
When Athens offered to loan money during the The Peloponnesian War to some other Greek city states to build a wall around their city they responded with "We are our walls."
How people bind themselves together often determines not only their success as a society but the nature of their government and therefore their society. When the people chose to have a ruler over them Samuel warned them of the Saul Syndrome and what kind of society and government the people would have if they chose that way. This Mark of Cain which people accept alters them and their society.
What was called the camp had something called gates because in verse 27 we see "And he said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour."
Exactly what this conflict was and how it operated is difficult to tell by these limited passages.
Moses made it clear that this concentration of wealth in a golden statue was a "sin".[1]
When we understand why, how and the purpose for this deposit of wealth into a system of priests was done we can get a better insight into the whole message of the Testaments.
These golden statue were created by other people and city states to help bind the people together with bands of dependence.
It was not just constructing a statue by the works of their hands but the creation and establishment of a central system of wealth and power that was contrary to the ways of God.
These systems centralize the power of society where the leaders are corrupted by that bestowed power of the people and they end up taking and taking and taking as we see in 1 Samuel 8. Also and probably more important is that this centralization of power is called a rejection of God. The end result is that the people become slothful in the ways of God and fail to attend to the Weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith which include caring for the needs of our neighbors and the widows and orphans of our society through Pure Religion in matters of health, education, and welfare. We are NOT to provide for the needy of society through the Covetous Practices and the men who call themselves benefactors but who exercise authority one over the other like the socialists do.
The Way of Christ was like neither the way of the world of Rome nor the governments of the gentiles who depend on those fathers of the earth through force, fear and fealty who deliver the people back in bondage again like they were in Egypt. Christ's ministers and true Christians do not depend upon systems of social welfare that force the contributions of the people like the corban of the Pharisees which made the word of God to none effect. Many people have been deceived to go the way of Balaam and the Nicolaitan and out of The Way of Christ and have become workers of iniquity.
The Christian conflict with Rome in the first century Church appointed by Christ was because they would not apply to the fathers of the earth for their free bread but instead relied upon a voluntary network providing a daily ministration to the needy of society through Faith, Hope, and Charity by way of freewill offerings of the people, for the people, and by the people through the perfect law of liberty in Free Assemblies according to the ancient pattern of Tuns or Tens as He commanded.
The modern Christians are in need of repentance.

.
By taking care of one another in a people bound by love a flow of God's grace is established amongst the people and in their camp.
But to consent to have One purse is contrary to the ways of God.
The word camp in the Bible is consistently הנחמ machaneh.[3] It is also translated host, company, and even tents.
It is from the word הנח chanah [4] but with the addition of the letter Mem at the beginning.
When you take one of the Hebrew words for sacrifice which is חבז zabach [5] and add the letter מ Mem you get חבזמ^ mizbeach[6] which is the Hebrew word for Altar.
As we have seen the word הנחמ machaneh is from the word הנח chanah which also appears as the name Hanna meaning grace. The camp of God has the character of God and manifests His spirit in the granting of grace through giving and forgiving. That camp of Christ is a community of living souls who are attending to the Weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith which include caring for the needs of our neighbors and the widows and orphans of our society through Pure Religion in matters of health, education, and welfare. We are NOT to provide for the needy of society through the Covetous Practices and the men who call themselves benefactors but who exercise authority one over the other like the socialists do.

Understanding what the altars were and the role they played in the camp and in society is as important as understanding that an idol is anything made by the hand of man that causes you to turn from the ways of God. The sacrifices of the people flowed across the altars of clay and stone to provide for the daily ministration of the needy of the people in Pure Religion.
If you are not flowing your sacrifices over the living altars of clay and stone in faith then you are not the camp of Christ and have need of repentance.
In order to practice that Pure Religion we need our money and wealth in our hands and in our purse so that we may share that wealth in Fervent Charity.
God is a capitalist and gave mankind dominion over the means of production. It is up to man to invest his talents and produce fruit so that he or she may share that fruit in a life giving way while tending to those Weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith which include caring for the needs of our neighbors and the widows and orphans of our society through Pure Religion in matters of health, education, and welfare. We are NOT to provide for the needy of society through the Covetous Practices and the men who call themselves benefactors but who exercise authority one over the other like the socialists do.

That means that he needs Real Money in his purse and not Debt Money in our own purse at our side.
This is why we are told in Deuteronomy 25:13: "Thou shalt not have in thy bag divers weights, a great and a small. 14 Thou shalt not have in thine house divers measures, a great and a small. 15 But thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shalt thou have: that thy days may be lengthened in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. 16 For all that do such things, and all that do unrighteously, are an abomination unto the LORD thy God." and again in Proverbs 1:14 "Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:"
Understanding what One purse means in the Bible will help you understand idols and altars and of course Benefactors who exercise authority. http://www.preparingyou.com/wiki/One_purse
