The Oregon coast's landscape is subject to change, especially when a huge storm generates very large, pounding waves to tear away features at the land's edge. More than 125 years ago, New River (south of Bandon, Oregon) did not exist. A large creek known as Floras Creek dumped its waters directly into the ocean about 16 miles south of Bandon. Stormy weather in the winter of 1890 produced violent waves, and that pounding surf produced a huge berm of sand (foredune) extending along the coast for miles. The new foredune totally blocked Floras Creek's outlet, and to find its way into the ocean, the water flowed along a totally new course, collecting waters from several other small creeks and rills along the way. The waters became more than just Floras Creek, and so ... this became an 8-mile-long, gently-flowing river (not a creek) paralleling the coastline, flowing northward to its exit into the Pacific ocean. <br>

His Church at New River

Minister of Record: Douglas Scofield

The Oregon coast's landscape is subject to change, especially when a huge storm generates very large, pounding waves to tear away features at the land's edge. More than 125 years ago, New River (south of Bandon, Oregon) did not exist. A large creek known as Floras Creek dumped its waters directly into the ocean about 16 miles south of Bandon. Stormy weather in the winter of 1890 produced violent waves, and that pounding surf produced a huge berm of sand (foredune) extending along the coast for miles. The new foredune totally blocked Floras Creek's outlet to the ocean, and to find its way into the ocean, the water flowed northward along a totally new course, collecting waters from several other small creeks and rills along the way. The waters became more than just Floras Creek, and so ... this became an 8-mile-long, gently-flowing river paralleling the coastline, flowing to its exit into the Pacific ocean, approximately 8 miles south of Bandon.

Old lonely creeks and rills tumble down the face of Oregon's mountains; it's a rough and gnarly landscape. Each individual who comes to gather with His Church at New River has journeyed some rough territory during their lifetime, and most of them are still encountering really difficult trials. Yet, in some sense, their lives flow together to form a river, when they gather in the congregation.

Just as the useful power of the stream is less than the useful power of the river into which it flows, so also our Creator designed communities of families to work together as powerful shields and forces in the midst of a dark world.

Do the trials and hardships of life yield bitterness, greed, pride, lust and disobedience? Brethren, this ought not to be so. There is healing in His wings. Under His wings the people love and serve one another by means of diligence in their relationship with their Maker.

This river south of Bandon was formed in the midst of storms, and even though some creatures felt the impact from the river's coming into existence, the hand of the Almighty did this, and it is good. Storms in one's personal life are purposed to strengthen and reshape, so that more and more conformity to His will is done in that one's life. Do you submit to His hand? Do you rejoice that your gnarly trials are excellent tools by which He reshapes you? Do you let old bad habits drown and die as victims in the calamity which God orchestrated for reshaping you to serve as an excellent vessel in His service? New River offers new opportunities to fish and wildlife. Are you becoming His vessel for new opportunities being made available to your local community? His Church at New River provides a way for you to further develop under the hand of the Almighty to become reshaped.

God's grace imparts faith. Faith together with works empowered by the holy spirit produces good works. A life submitted to good works is a light for the world, and God's blessings flow in, through and out of that life.

His Church at New River is for the doing of the Blessed Strategy, so that the storehouse is filling, and so that every godly doctrine is guarded among the doers of His Word. Doctrines which Jesus taught govern the flow of life among the people of the Almighty, and how can they dare ignore these doctrines?

His Church at New River is a government office in the kingdom of heaven. The kingdom of heaven is a realm in which to gather and work. It is for the Daily ministration (see Acts 6), and it has several other purposes (ask to learn what are they). The people offer as their reasonable service, by faith through grace, the help and support which is needed for accomplishing the daily ministration. His Church at New River serves elders who seek first His kingdom and His righteousness. Those who truly seek are sober (alert, and not asleep or drunk with the wine of worldly dainties), and they are those who watch:

Mark 13:34 For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. 35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: 36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. 37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.
