Jesus "commanded" that his disciples make the people organize themselves in groups of tens, hundreds, and thousands to form a network so that they could efficiently share with each other by way of faith, for the sake of hope, and in charity rather than by a government that exercised authority one over the other through force, fear and fealty of the world.
This was and is a key to the kingdom of God and His righteousness. The early Church was to feed His sheep by serving that network of free assemblies through the practice of Pure Religion instead of depending on the "fathers of the earth" who called themselves benefactors but exercise authority one over the other through a socialist state and its legal charity. If you are not seeking to provide all the social welfare of an international network of Christians through a "daily ministration" of voluntary charity of, for, and by the people you are in need of repentance.

What is a dearth?

  • Dearth "a scarcity or lack of something.' From the old English "dirth" meaning a lack of, or insignificant amount.
"there is a dearth of evidence"

synonyms: lack, scarcity, shortage, shortfall, want, deficiency, insufficiency, inadequacy, paucity, sparseness, scantiness, rareness; absence

The Greek dearth

In the Greek scripture we find the word translated dearth defined in the concordance with the Strong's number 3042 ~λιμός~ limos \@lee-mos’\@ probably from 3007 (through the idea of destitution); n m AV-famine 7, hunger 3, dearth 2; 12 1) scarcity of harvest, famine.

When the early Christians faced shortages of food or other needs they provided provisions to cover those shortages through charity as taught by John the Baptist and Jesus who was the Christ written about by the prophets of the Old Testament.

At that time in history there had been a major shift in the way in which the people provided for the needy of society both during major famines or dearths and on an individual basses.

Historians like Polybius warned 150 years before the birth of Jesus that these changes in the mechanisms of social the structure and culture would alter the course of history by degenerating the character of society and the people themselves. This inevitably begins a political process directing the outcome of their political landscape and dimenishes personal liberty.[1]

John the Baptist explained the solution for the ill effects of those social and religious changes from a network of fervent charity to legal charity undermines the fabric of society.

Jesus would call out a group of men, traine them up with special instructions, and appoint them, even commanded them, to organize the people so that they, the early Church, could "feed His Sheep" in a daily ministration of Pure Religion which counters the effects that was dominating societies and the thinking of the people at that time in the world of Rome.

The dearths of Acts

Some one said that doing Church is not a big part of serving God. The phrase "doing church" is not in accordance with the meaning of the word ekklesia. How do you do called out?

Unless it means pretending to be the "called out".

There are people who do that. It would depend on who called out the people and what they are doing. We could make a pretty short list to distinguish the Church of Constantine from the Church of the Christ.

All those practices are okay in the Church of Constantine but not in the Church of the Christ.

The Church of Christ rightly divided the bread of the people from house to house through a daily ministration of Pure Religion.

In fact they were so good at that we see them in Acts doing that all over the known world during times of dearths.

The provision of aid and welfare provided by Paul and Barnabas during the dearths and famines swept across the Roman empire for a variety of reasons.[2] we see them mentioned in Acts[3] to the Christian community by the early Church established by Christ was at the heart of the Christian conflict with Rome.

Romans had accepted a form of "legal charity" provided through the state supported temples and Herod and the Pharisees had set up similar forms of social welfare through registration and government enforcement.

This was the sacrifice or Corbanpreached against by Jesus as making the word of God to none effect and causing the people to often do no more ought for their own parents.

The Corban of the Modern Christian has become more like that of the Pharisees than the Corban of Christ.

Are Modern Christians under a Strong delusion, have they returned to the mire, and again become entangled in the elements of the world?

In the Old Testament

Famines were a major part of many stories and events of the Old Testament. One word we see in the Hebrew text is Raab (ReishAyinBeit)[4] is also translated hunger and dearth.
