Many questions arose in my mind by various encounters at ‘church’, and those brought me, eventually, to the HHC network. God led me into experiences as church elder (one among five elders), Sunday school teacher, church clerk and infrequent preaching. These had their place for enriching my life to fine-tune it, yet I press on to learn and do the tasks in His kingdom. Our God reigns. May the Lord send revival here! Our efforts, by our own strength, do not spark revival. Only the Spirit of God has power to fan the fire that burns off the dross in our souls, and He leads the way to full and complete repentance.

About Douglas

Over the years, my efforts included Bible study and meditations for gaining a better understanding of Biblical things. Contemporary issues beg answers, and I look for how they may be addressed from Biblical perspectives. I study Biblical Greek, but I am only a seasoned novice in that realm.

My wife and I have ten children. She is the wife of my youth. Two sons are married, and we have two grand-children. Most of my employment comes by being a self-employed handyman. Together by home schooling, gardening, raising goats, and a myriad of other ‘homesteading’ activities, our family lives by rural American standards, ‘out in the sticks’ of southern Oregon. Some think we are ‘Amish’. We practice alternative home-health care and health maintenance. God is our Rock, and in Him we trust.

Update, December 2014

Currently, my service with His Holy Church includes tasks as commissioned Minister of Friends of His Church Missions (FHCM). which is set up as a trust. In this capacity, I am an ex-officio Minister of HHC. I congregate with the Ministers of HHC, all of whom are Elders served at the altar of Christ by overseer, Gregory Williams, in His Church at Summer Lake.

Skills: If the Lord wills, I may travel to provide help, or maybe I can assist you from my home office (I offer handyman counsel, by phone, or I can send computer-related output, shipped via internet):

Principally, I am a handyman with a wide skill-base:
- repair or rebuild any aspect of houses.
- willing to repair interior or exterior of travel trailer or motorhome.
- fences and landscape maintenance.
- custom-build or repair small sheds.
- barn and farm-fence repairs.
- limited experience with appliance repair.

Ten years ago, I was a full-time professional writer (self-employed), with many of my tasks splashing into the ‘technical writing’ arena:
- editing for correct grammar and sentence clarity.
- create or modify graphic images using computer.
- amateur skills as a website editor/creator.
- experienced with publishing software, to produce print-ready books or booklets.
- capable with spreadsheets and other apps.

God writes on my heart a desire to contribute my labors to help the poor, the imprisoned, the hungry and the naked (I encounter spiritually needy people everywhere). He also writes it on my heart to build up His disciples. My talents and experiences afford me patience. Those whom I serve contribute whatever is written on their heart. In this manner, the currency of God’s divine love is exchanged in my business/ministry practice. Character references available upon request.
