Some have been taught that aChristian's job is to suffer and be willing to be hated for Christ.

It would seem a Christians "jod" would be to follow "The Way" of Christ, be a doer of the word and also turn away from that which He said not do, especially those things that "make the word of God to none effect".

Originally one of His first directives was to repent and seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness.

Others instructions were to love God and your neighbor as your self. But we are also told to love our enemy.

Matthew 5:44 "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;"

Anyone can make enemies but that is not our job to do so. But it seems our job is to love our enemy.

To be hated is not the point nor the goal. Christ gives us a detailed explanation of the condition for whom is hated and why if we have eyes to see and ears to hear.

John 15:18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. 19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. 20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. 21 But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.

Who or what is the world?

This will be essential to have a thorough understand of what the word world means in the context

What does it mean to be in the world but not of the world?

How does one become "of the world"?

If we understand what and why the Corban of the Pharisees makes the word of God to none effect".

Corban means "sacrifice". That sacrifice provided a social safety net for ancient societies But it is the "means and method" of that sacrifice which degenerates the soul of society or cause it to bear fruit.

Herod and Caesar implemented the former system based on force, fear, and fealty. Once those governments obtained the consent of the people, those governments of the world used their newly granted power to exercise authority to take from the people so they could set their Table of government [[benefits and dainties for the welfare of the people who became members of the system "of that world".

David said this was a snare and a trap, Paul agreed. Peter warned that these system as legal charity would make the people merchandise and eventually curse children.

While John the Baptist, Jesus, and the early Church preached and pursued the means and method rooted in faith, hope and charity. It required that every one loved their neighbor and not bite one another through the teeth of the benefactor who exercise authority one over the other.
