0:00 hello and 0:02 welcome to presentation number 37. 0:06 now 0:08 this one 0:11 isn't going to be a short one i try and 0:13 keep it short as i can 0:16 but 0:17 yeah it might take a bit 0:19 um there's quite a few bible verses to 0:21 go through 0:24 but 0:25 i've got all my notes on pages here i've 0:27 got about four pages of them so instead 0:30 of reading from my bible i've 0:33 printed them all out on this sheet of 0:34 papers i read straight from the paper so 0:36 i've been 0:37 looking down with quite a bit plus all 0:39 my other notes i got about it 0:42 okay 0:44 i'm going to call it earthly rulership 0:46 but ultimately 0:48 it's about politics i've got the um 0:52 elections coming up in a 0:54 about two or three weeks from there 0:58 and 0:59 a lot of people 1:01 especially christians 1:04 were saying 1:06 that if you're a christian you should 1:08 not vote 1:10 i want to show you what the bible says 1:12 and you be the judge 1:16 because it's quite interesting what it 1:19 says 1:20 and before i get started i've got to say 1:23 thank you to an old friend of mine bill 1:26 this man i met years ago 1:29 and he's trying to 1:31 talk to me 1:33 and go on and on and on about politics i 1:36 thought how 1:38 boring 1:40 i thought when's he going to end every 1:42 time i saw him 1:43 politics 1:45 and 1:46 what the bible supposedly says 1:50 and 1:53 one day he gave me the challenge he says 1:56 if you think i'm wrong 1:59 you show me out of the bible that i'm 2:01 wrong 2:02 and so i pulled my bible out and 2:05 done a bit of a study on it and 2:07 i was quite surprised 2:10 so bill if you watch this 2:12 i thank you 2:13 for giving me the challenge 2:16 and of course i thank god for 2:20 um 2:22 giving me the ability to study these 2:24 things 2:26 as it certainly has given me a closer 2:28 walk with him 2:29 and a better understanding 2:31 okay 2:33 should 2:34 christians be involved in politics 2:41 i forget what date it was 2:44 but 2:46 how much of this evening here in 2:48 australia or in america or wherever it 2:50 was 2:51 but they brought in 2:54 this what you call a doctrine or a 2:56 belief or a statement i don't know but 2:59 they call it separation of church and 3:01 state 3:05 which means 3:07 the church should be part of the state 3:08 and the state should be part of the 3:10 church 3:11 in other words 3:12 christians shouldn't be involved in 3:14 politics 3:16 i want to show you what the bible says 3:19 now there is before i get right into it 3:22 there is um 3:26 i've seen it on a very short five minute 3:28 sermon 3:30 where they are saying 3:33 when it talks about the higher powers 3:37 that it means it means they're talking 3:39 about liberty 3:42 and if you 3:44 ultimately yes if you follow god 3:47 you keep his commandments you live a 3:48 godly life 3:50 and everyone else does to you but then 3:52 you'll be at liberty 3:54 you'll be free to leave your keys in 3:55 your car and the run gets stolen and 3:57 leave your house unlocked and none will 4:00 break into it 4:02 and so in a sense yeah liberty will come 4:05 into it but 4:07 i don't believe 4:09 i believe there's a lot more to it 4:12 okay so 4:16 we're going to go into the new testament 4:18 to the book of romans 4:20 in chapter 13 4:23 and we're going to 4:25 read it to verse by verse we're going to 4:28 dissect it 4:30 and talk about a little bit 4:33 and 4:35 you see what you think 4:38 okay romans 13 verse 1 4:41 it says that every soul be subject unto 4:43 the higher powers 4:45 but there was no 4:46 power but of god 4:52 sorry for the interruption just then 4:53 because being called 4:57 yeah romans 13 verse 1 that every soul 5:01 we suffered unto the higher powers 5:03 for there is no power but of god 5:06 the powers 5:08 that we are ordained of god 5:12 so what it's saying here i was witness 5:14 that all power 5:15 comes from god 5:17 our government 5:19 is a higher power 5:21 it is therefore the hand of god 5:25 you get that 5:28 if god has ordained it it must be 5:30 important 5:32 higher powers the government is 5:34 important i'm going to show you 5:36 as we go along now is talking about the 5:40 government 5:43 okay 5:44 still in the book of romans 13 and verse 5:47 2 5:49 i will say there's some very strong 5:51 verses here some very strong ones 5:55 so verse 2 5:57 whosoever therefore resists the power 5:59 resists the ordinance of god and they 6:03 that resist shall receive themselves 6:06 damnation 6:09 now that's a very clean 6:13 to me you don't need a dictionary or 6:15 someone to really explain to me it's 6:18 soft explanatory 6:20 if you resist the power 6:22 you're resisting god 6:25 and that is very dangerous 6:28 even to bring yourself into damnation 6:31 that's a very strong word 6:33 think about it and be serious about it 6:39 okay verse 3 6:42 for rules 6:44 are not a terror to good works 6:47 but to the evil 6:49 will thou then 6:51 not be afraid of the power 6:53 do that which is good 6:55 and thou shalt have praise of the same 6:58 and verse 14 verse 4 the next verse for 7:01 he is a minister of god to thee for good 7:04 but if thou do which is evil be afraid 7:07 for he beareth not the sword in vain for 7:10 he is a menace minister of god our 7:12 avenger to execute wrath upon him 7:16 that does evil 7:19 no okay let's be honest 7:21 does that reflect our government today 7:23 no far from it 7:26 the government 7:29 today is corrupt there might be a few 7:32 honest runs in there but overall 7:34 the system is corrupt 7:36 i mean 7:38 a bit of old news now but 7:42 if i 7:43 if someone breaks into your house 7:46 and 7:47 he trips over something breaks his leg 7:51 he can sue the homeowner because he 7:53 broke his leg in your house while he was 7:56 intruding and probably going to steal 7:58 something from the 7:59 or of course harm to a family member 8:04 and 8:05 there's many many more examples but 8:07 we're going to move on 8:09 but 8:10 that is not god's will 8:13 god's will 8:15 is that he is a minister of god for good 8:19 and to execute 8:21 righteous judgment 8:24 you get caught stealing you get 8:26 penalized for it 8:28 okay 8:29 and 8:30 i don't have to go through all the rules 8:32 you i think you know what i mean 8:36 and you'll find we're paying a lot more 8:38 taxes than what we should be and 8:41 the list goes on 8:44 and on and on why our government 8:48 doesn't fit here what romans 13 says 8:51 that's what we've read so far let's 8:53 continue 8:55 wherefore 8:56 this is verse 5 8:59 6 9:00 and 7 9:01 in romans 13. wherefore you must need to 9:04 be subject not only for iraq but also 9:07 for 9:08 conscience sake 9:11 because it's right to them 9:14 for conscience sake 9:16 for this cause pay a tribute also 9:19 for thy 9:20 god's ministers attending continually 9:23 upon this very thing 9:26 this is one of those verses what's hard 9:28 to apply to a government today because 9:31 the days a lot of them don't even 9:33 believe in god 9:37 uh verse seven render therefore today 9:40 jesus tribute to him 9:43 tribute his jew custom 9:45 to him 9:46 fear to him fear and honor to him 9:49 honor 9:53 and it is a bit hard to wonder the 9:55 government 9:56 again when you see the way they handle 9:58 things or the corruption and greed 10:02 and lying and broken promises 10:05 it's a bit hard isn't it 10:07 but again 10:08 this is what the bible says 10:11 and 10:15 it's what the government isn't doing 10:17 um 10:19 let's 10:20 let's continue on 10:22 and we'll 10:24 we'll get back to this 10:28 where did the government start 10:32 or 10:34 the earliest what i've found in the 10:35 bible and i might there might be i might 10:38 be wrong 10:40 but this this is what i found in the 10:41 book of numbers in the old testament 10:44 okay numbers chapter 11 16 and 17 10:48 and the lord said unto moses 10:50 gather unto me seventy men of the elders 10:53 of israel 10:54 whom thou knowest to be of 10:57 elders of the people and officers over 10:59 them 11:01 and bring them unto the tabernacle of 11:02 the congregation that they might stand 11:04 with thee 11:05 and they will come down and talk with 11:07 thee thee and i will take 11:08 of the spirit which is upon thee and put 11:11 it upon them 11:12 and they shall bear the burden of the 11:14 people with thee 11:15 that they are bearing it not thyself 11:18 alone 11:22 you find at this time 11:25 moses said 11:27 um taken the israelites out of bondage 11:30 out of egypt 11:32 and there could have been a couple 11:33 million people i don't know how many 11:35 there was a lot 11:36 and it was and moses was the one 11:39 looking after them guiding them 11:42 and 11:43 trying to keep law and order amongst 11:45 them 11:47 uh one person amongst a couple million 11:49 people that's uh without today 11:52 that's why god said bring 11:56 bring 70 men 11:58 and so they were then given the 11:59 responsibility for 12:02 um 12:04 probably the more minor matters 12:07 what could be easily 12:09 hard matters 12:11 they were they come back to moses and 12:14 he's handled those ones 12:17 and you can go through 12:20 you can go through the book of kings 12:23 second kings in a torsion 12:25 a whole 12:27 history 12:28 of kings and rulers 12:34 jihadish was a righteous run 12:36 to 12:38 was an evil king 12:40 and 12:41 and it goes on and on and this king was 12:43 righteous and this king was evil and 12:46 i'm not going to go through it all but 12:48 it's actually in before the lord then 12:50 i'm second kings 12:51 in the old testament 12:55 and 12:56 again i'm going to go into all of that 12:58 but the bible has a form 13:01 wrong 13:02 a whole list of kings 13:04 some did good in the sight of god some 13:07 did even the side of god 13:10 it wasn't his will for the evil to 13:12 happen 13:15 okay 13:16 um 13:18 let's see what the bible says now 13:22 about kings and rules how how they 13:24 should be 13:26 and how government should be run 13:28 okay 13:29 leviticus 13:32 and a lot of couple of these were in the 13:34 old testament i'll be going all over the 13:35 bible 13:36 okay leviticus chapter 24 and verse 22 13:41 and it says you shall have one manner of 13:43 law 13:44 as well 13:45 for the stranger as for one of your own 13:48 country for i am the lord your god 13:51 okay no prejudice 13:54 the same rule applies for everybody 13:58 it doesn't matter what color your skin 14:00 is if your big fat skinny or 14:03 whatever 14:07 you should have the same room for 14:08 everybody to keep it fair i think that's 14:11 pretty good 14:12 that sounds alright to me 14:17 proverbs 14 verse 21 and 31 14:23 he that despise of his neighbor sinneth 14:25 but he that have mercy on the poor have 14:27 you 14:28 seen he that oppressive to poor reproach 14:31 of his making but he that honor of him 14:34 have mercy on the poor 14:37 now the government 14:39 should be looking after the poor people 14:41 as well 14:42 and yes we got center link 14:45 what looks after us here in australia 14:47 not all countries have that i believe 14:49 but that's that's pretty good 14:52 i mean i think that some of them could 14:54 um 14:56 be came for a bit better than what 14:58 cinderlink has to offer but that's just 15:01 my own personal opinion 15:04 but it says which have mercy on the poor 15:06 and look after them and help them 15:11 okay proverbs 15:14 29 and verse 2. 15:18 now before i read this 15:21 remember 15:24 at the beginning i said that some people 15:26 are saying that the high powers means 15:29 um liberty 15:31 well 15:32 gallery this was a new seal to make your 15:34 own judgments would you reckon 15:39 proverbs 2019 15:41 when the righteous iron authority 15:43 the people rejoice 15:46 but when the wicked beareth rule 15:49 the people mourn 15:54 you hear that they read it again 15:57 when the righteous are in authority the 16:00 people rejoice 16:02 but when the wicked bear from the people 16:04 move on 16:07 now that's not liberty 16:09 that's talking about righteous people 16:11 ruling over us 16:14 what is righteous 16:16 right to someone who does right 16:18 basically got the same characteristics 16:20 of god 16:21 righteous in the way 16:23 in their words their thoughts their 16:25 actions the way they look after us 16:27 it says we should have righteous people 16:30 ruling over us 16:32 okay it says when the righteous are in 16:33 authority 16:36 the godly people 16:38 the people rejoice 16:40 and when the wicked beareth rule 16:43 the people mourn 16:44 and 16:46 today 16:47 you can see a great example of that no 16:50 one's really happy with any of the 16:51 government 16:54 because they are 16:56 corrupt 16:57 and 17:00 greedy 17:01 and hypocritical 17:03 and there's probably 100 other words 17:06 what could be used to describe our 17:08 government today 17:11 that's not the way god wanted it to be 17:16 um with taxes i suppose matthew 22 21 17:21 render therefore want to seize the 17:23 things that be caesar's 17:25 and unto god the things which be god's 17:30 well it's not just ruling 17:33 it's not just really taxes but it's 17:34 really obeying the government 17:38 as long as they 17:39 as long as they're um 17:42 like contravening god's ten commandments 17:44 you go along with the government to be 17:45 obedient to them 17:47 that's what this verse he was saying 17:50 as well as paying reduce taxes 17:57 and here we've got first timothy chapter 18:00 2 verses 1-3 18:02 and it says i exhort therefore that 18:04 first of all 18:06 supplications prayers intercessions and 18:08 giving of thanks be made for men 18:17 here it's saying that when we do pray 18:19 for our government we should pray for 18:20 them first before we pray for anyone 18:22 else 18:22 now i'm personally not very good at that 18:24 because i usually put my family first 18:26 so maybe i need to sort that one out but 18:29 anyway 18:30 that's what the bible saying here in 18:31 verse two i just read verse one 18:34 verse two of first timothy chapter two 18:38 for kings and for 18:40 all that are in authority that they may 18:43 lead a quiet and peaceful life in all 18:45 godliness and honesty 18:48 verse 3 for this is good and acceptable 18:51 in the sight of god our savior 18:58 so 18:59 here 19:01 our higher powers 19:04 isn't just limited to the word liberty 19:07 it's talking about people ruling over us 19:09 but to pray for our kings and 19:11 rulers and politicians and 19:15 whoever anyone who's an authority over 19:17 us we're to pray for them 19:19 that's instruction from god 19:29 okay 19:30 proverbs 19:33 no i won't worry about reading that one 19:35 actually 19:38 well i'm going to read 19:40 here at acts 5 verse 29 19:45 and this here is about 19:47 if the government does give you 19:50 unreasonable instructions 19:54 um 19:55 unreasonable 19:56 laws one would go against 19:59 god's law the ten commandments 20:01 this is the verse here acts 5 29 20:04 then peter 20:06 and the other apostles answered and said 20:09 we ought to remain god rather than man 20:15 now okay i've just showed you hear what 20:17 the bible says 20:19 about our rules 20:23 and there's one more verse but i'm going 20:24 to leave that to the last because it to 20:26 meet the icing on the cake 20:28 but 20:30 what examples have we got 20:33 in the bible about 20:37 godly rules in ungodly 20:40 places 20:42 well 20:45 let's 20:46 um 20:48 i'm not gonna go through all of these 20:52 but joseph 20:55 um 20:57 and his 20:59 his boss basically was the man by the 21:01 name of potiphar 21:03 okay 21:06 joseph was a righteous young man 21:10 and there's a whole story behind him but 21:12 i'm not going to go into that now 21:16 but 21:17 joseph was a godly man prodifer was 21:20 ungodly wrong 21:22 maybe didn't believe in god i'm not i'm 21:23 not um 21:25 showing the full story of what potiphar 21:27 is all about 21:29 but um i know he wasn't 21:32 a god-fearing man 21:33 he might have been a good man but not a 21:35 god-fearing one 21:37 as far as i know here 21:40 and i'm just going to summarize i'm not 21:41 going to go reading through these verses 21:42 i just summarize the verses 21:45 as we go along genesis chapter 39 and 21:47 verse 2 21:49 and it mentions that god is with joseph 21:53 as a ruler in god very fasting 21:57 we were to be 21:59 in um 22:01 of the political system 22:04 as in a political candidate 22:08 or 22:11 a public servant police ambulance or 22:14 fire 22:15 or that whatever no people who are 22:17 we have authority over us 22:20 okay guide us with joseph you can bear 22:22 for us too 22:28 yeah because 22:30 joseph was a godly man this isn't 22:33 this is summarizing verse three now 22:36 um 22:37 podophone 22:40 was prosperous 22:42 because of joseph because joseph was a 22:44 godly man he had the same rule for 22:46 everybody for the egyptians and for any 22:49 foreigners to travel through the land 22:51 the same rules 22:55 um 22:58 joseph was made an overseer over his 23:00 master's yes okay his master was potter 23:04 strange name that i reckon 23:08 excuse me 23:12 okay i'm back 23:16 i forgot where i was up to you now 23:20 but basically 23:23 god not only blessed joseph for being a 23:25 righteous 23:27 um 23:29 ruler in over potiphar's household but 23:32 he blessed 23:34 he blessed um 23:38 he blessed everyone who was under 23:39 joseph's rulership 23:42 and yes i believe that 23:46 applies to us today as well 23:52 so 23:55 there are 23:57 more examples in the bible of 24:00 godly rulers but i'm going to leave it 24:02 on 24:03 on this one i mean we've got in the book 24:06 of daniel 24:07 daniel and his um three um friends 24:11 because of their god-given wisdom they 24:13 were made rulers over babylon but i'm 24:16 not going to go into that that's because 24:18 this is going to take longer and longer 24:26 so when 24:27 i talk about this 24:30 separation of church and state i 24:31 personally cannot go along with it 24:33 even though most 24:36 religions today most churches 24:39 believe in separation of church and 24:41 state i personally can't 24:45 and 24:48 um and i was going to mention another 24:50 bible verse wasn't i would put some 24:51 icing on the cake 24:54 okay 24:56 this one 24:58 this verse i'll go back to my pages here 25:02 and see i can find it 25:04 and i reckon this verse 25:08 is undeniably proof that 25:12 our government is ordained of god and we 25:15 should be 25:16 part of politics we should do our 25:20 faithful duty in voting for 25:22 the most godly people we can find 25:25 and if you have 25:27 the ability to 25:29 if you have what it takes 25:31 a god-given talent to 25:33 be a ruler 25:37 to be part of the political system i 25:38 believe you should be 25:40 um it's not everyone's talent certainly 25:42 not mine 25:44 but i believe 25:46 if you've got that talent 25:49 you should think about um being part of 25:51 the political system okay 25:54 old testament again i've used most of 25:57 the old testament 25:59 second samuel 26:01 chapter 23 and verse 3 26:07 and this is just before king david died 26:10 another godly king 26:13 it says in the bible that 26:15 david was a man after god's own heart 26:19 okay second samuel 23 and verse 3 26:23 the god of israel said the rock of 26:26 israel spake 26:28 who's speaking 26:30 god is speaking 26:32 god is speaking 26:35 he 26:36 that ruleth of over men 26:38 must be just 26:40 ruling in the fear of god 26:43 and how can you argue against that 26:46 honestly 26:47 how can you argue against that how can 26:50 you get separation of church estate 26:54 about that 26:55 now 26:56 when i was saying 26:59 when i was saying 27:01 the separation of church and state 27:03 i don't mean they should be combined 27:06 in the way they were in the dark ages 27:10 where people are persecuted for not 27:12 believing a certain thing 27:14 i'm not going to go into that 27:17 but knowing 27:19 i don't believe 27:20 well if you don't want to be a christian 27:22 that is your choice 27:24 but 27:25 that's it's not up to you us to execute 27:28 the person if i'm not being a christian 27:31 like i've done in the dark ages of not 27:33 believing the same's what the church 27:35 believed 27:37 god's given us all our own free will 27:40 to choose what we want to choose 27:44 okay 27:46 and so don't get me wrong on that i 27:49 don't believe you should be back like in 27:50 the dark ages 27:52 if the church says it 27:53 you must do it 27:55 no 27:58 our 27:59 blueprint our rules should be god's ten 28:01 commandments and we will all be happy 28:07 again 28:08 our rulers should be godly people 28:11 as the bible says ruling 28:14 in the fear of god 28:17 okay 28:19 ruling with god's 10 commands

28:23 not our own rules

28:25

well we got out now we've got our rules

28:27 for driving

28:30 and

28:31 workplace often safety rules and rules

28:33 for listening rules for that and of

28:35 course they are there for our safety and

28:37 now that's

28:39 that's a different story

28:41 but the corruption shouldn't be there

28:45 it should be

28:46 honest

28:47 and godly

28:48 is what the bible says

28:50 but i'm going to leave it here

28:52 and

28:55 i can enjoy the rest of your day and

28:57 we'll see you in the next one goodbye
