Titus 2
Sound in verse 1 is from the word hugiaino[1] means whole and healthy or wholesome. So sound doctrine includes teachings for the living[2] so that they may be whole and healthy in the world at hand. |
The same instruction is found in Timothy and Titus 1[3] |
The Greek word for aged men is presbutes [4] from presbuteros[5] normally translated elder. All these characteristics are about members of families which must remain whole and healthy. |

- 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts[10], we should live soberly, righteously[11], and godly, in this present world;
- 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
- 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
- 15 ¶ These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
