"Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me." Matthew 16:24 "And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me." Matthew 10:38
Jesus makes many references to seeking, striving, persevering and enduring in order to be saved because the gates are narrow. People like to think they are saved by what they say or think about God. Religion is is not what you think but what you do. We are told over and over that we are to be Keeping the commandments.
The preacher who tells you otherwise is not of the Holy Spirit nor is he preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom or the Doctrines of Jesus. If we do not keep the Commandments our faith is dead, unreal, a strong delusion, false faith and a lie.
We are told to pick up your cross and plough in hope[1] and not take our hand from that plow because if you do you are not fit for the kingdom of God.[2]
There can be no doubt that the Gospel preached by Christ requires that you be steadfast and endure in your seeking the kingdom of God.
To seek, endure, persevere, strive, and be a doer of the word are clearly a part of the Doctrines of Jesus.
  1. 1 Corinthians 9:10 Or saith he [it] altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, [this] is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.
  2. Luke 9:62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
