To give up something for the sake of others is to freely give. The essence of charity and love  is to give.

There are a number of different definitions of the word sacrifice as a noun and verb,
One of those definitions might include:

# an act of slaughtering an animal or person or surrendering a possession as an offering to God or to a divine or supernatural figure.
# an animal, person, or object offered in a sacrifice.
synonyms: (votive) offering, burnt offering, gift, oblation
# an act of giving up something valued for the sake of something else regarded as more important or worthy.
* "we must all be prepared to make sacrifices"
* synonyms: surrender, giving up, abandonment, renunciation, forfeiture, relinquishment, resignation, abdication
* "joining a federation may result in the sacrifice of sovereignty"

As a verb
verb: sacrifice; 3rd person present: sacrifices; past tense: sacrificed; past participle: sacrificed; gerund or present participle: sacrificing

#    offer or kill as a religious sacrifice.
# give up (something important or valued) for the sake of other considerations.

To "give up" is to sacrifice.

Can we give up the idolatry of modern religion to receive the truth of the gospel of the Kingdom of God and His righteousness?

Can we give up our will to do God's will?

Can we give up pride for humility, comfort and convenience for righteousness?

Many people give up rights for benefits.

In some ancient cultures domestic animals were part of the life blood of society.
The phrase life blood of society is a metaphor that expressing the idea that owning  domestic animals was an essential element to survival in society.

Were the Altars of ancient societies and the ritual killing of animals just and allegory and metaphor of customs that actually had a practical social purpose? Were the altars of  Clay and Stone symbols of systems that provided a social service that bound society together.

This was understood by the Essenes who read the Torah. They understood the Sophistry of Sacrifice.

Even the sacrifice of the Red Heifer was merely a metaphor for foreign aid.
The only true sovereign is God but God has given us choice from the beginning. We may eat from, or be guided by, one of two Trees. One is the Tree of Life and the other of our own Knowledge of Good and Evil. Gods are ruling judges. We will wait upon the LORD or serve other gods by making Contracts, Covenants and Constitutions with them to obtain their Grace and Benefits.

If we join "a federation [which] may result in the sacrifice of sovereignty", our personal right to choose or liberty we will be required to sacrifice or serve the Gods many of the World. That service and allegiance comes in many forms; taxes, military and even service in civilian work projects.

So have we sacrificed our liberty for comfort?

Have we looked to be Saved by Benefactors of the World and the Fathers of the earth who with One purse take from each of our neighbors bringing us closer to damnation as Merchandise through our Covetous Practices?

Have we returned to Bondage of Egypt in a Corvee system through a Corban that makes the word of God to none effect, like the pig returning to the mire?

What are we really Saved by?

Christ died that we might be saved but not without our repentance.

Do we have real Faith in Christ without Probity of The Way of Christ who came to serve and save others?

Are we gathering to save others or just ourselves?

Do we love others as much as ourselves, value other peoples life as much as we value our own?

Is not our Faith dead without works of Jesus Christ in our life?

If we do not daily sacrifice for others in service of righteousness then we do not have true faith  in Christ or The Way and we are not saved by His grace.
