The word evangelist[1] only appears three times in the Bible. It is from the word euaggelizo [2] which appears some 55 times and simply means preach[3] or bring good news. It is from two Greek words meaning well or good and message. Anyone may bring the good news of the Kingdom of God, especially if they are led by the Holy Spirit.

Acts 21:8 And the next day we that were of Paul’s company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist <2099>, which was one of the seven; and abode with him.
Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists <2099>; and some, pastors and teachers;
2 Timothy 4:5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist <2099>, make full proof of thy ministry.
