The same is also seen in Mark 10:21 and in Luke 18:22. This idea of giving up all to serve the Lord opens a door that completes the discipleship of Christ.

Jesus is talking about the testimony of the Old Testament because that was the scripture then. And the Pharisees had twisted it so that though they studied they did not know what they read and did not know Christ when he came.
 
 
Many Christians today might not really know Christ. Knowing yourself is a major part of learning to know Christ. Trials and tribulation, serving, seeking and striving may show you [[The Way]].

Christ appointed His ministers to do a job and provide the services of Pure Religion through charitable practices, freely giving what was freely received like the Levites who were the Church in the Wilderness. They were public servants of a free government of, for, and by the virtue of the people and the ministries of His Church. Providing welfare through the state where men may call themselves benefactors creates a social compact with a corporate body that exercises authority which makes the word of God to none effect and snares the people as surety for debt. They gave up personal wealth being "called out" and relied upon charity. They were not mendicant which would be contrary to the early Church. They were to be in one accord, One Body, as the true Church. 1000 years later in the days of Lady Godiva the Church would look to the Benefactors who exercise authority and the Fathers of the earth becoming entangled in the elements of the world. It is time to repent!


A disciple of Jesus was a student of Jesus who was the Christ. To be a Christian was to abide in His love and walk in The Way because you repented and were seeking the kingdom of God and His righteousness. We are warned about a strong delusion that will deceive many. Jesus came to take the kingdom from those who were teaching something different from Moses and appointed it to the Apostles so that they would bear fruit and the world might be saved through repentance.
Learning to live by love in the practice of pure religion through a daily ministration of faith, hope, and charity, instead of fealty, force, and fear of the world has been the message of salvation by God from the beginning. It is what repentance and seeking the Kingdom of God and His righteousness is all about. The Way of Christ is often in conflict with the ways of the world as the Christian conflict was counter to the ways of Rome and the Imperial Cult of Rome that allowed the people to be Biting one another like the Modern Church. Each of us needs to have the humility to see the strong delusion society that has entangled the people in the elements of the world through the deeds of the Nicolaitan which God hates.

The word Disciple

The word disciple appears over two-hundred-sixty times in the Bible and is consistently translated from the Greek word mathetes μαθητής with the Strong's number 3101. It is pronounced math-ay-tes’ and is from the word manthano μανθάνω prolongation from a primary verb matheo meaning to learn, be appraised.

1) a learner, pupil, disciple

Mathetes means to be a learner, pupil, disciple. So a disciple is a student being tested to see if they learn what it is to be something.

In the case of Christ, there were things a disciple had to do just to begin to learn and hold the position of disciple. They were students learning the ways of Christ to receive His appointment as ministers of His Kingdom.

If the term discipleship were to be used by Christ it would include the teachings and thing a disciple should be learning including 'the process of teaching someone to become like Christ'.

Disciple Requirements

Here are some of the requirements laid down by Christ for his disciples:


Luke 14:26 If any [man] come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. Luke 14:27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. 28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? 29 Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, 30 Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish. 31 Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand? 32 Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.34 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned? 35 It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.


We see another condition included to keep the commandments and love one another in John 15:7-8 "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples..."[1]

Usage of the term

The term we see translated disciple is used extensively until the end of Acts:

Matthew 5:1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples <3101> came unto him:
Matthew 8:21 And another of his disciples <3101> said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
Matthew 8:23 And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples <3101> followed him.
Matthew 8:25 And his disciples <3101> came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.
Matthew 9:10 And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples <3101>.
Matthew 9:11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples <3101>, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners?
Matthew 9:14 Then came to him the disciples <3101> of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples <3101> fast not?
Matthew 9:19 And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples <3101>.
Matthew 9:37 Then saith he unto his disciples <3101>, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;
Matthew 10:1 And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples <3101>, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.
Matthew 10:24 The disciple <3101> is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.
Matthew 10:25 It is enough for the disciple <3101> that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?
Matthew 10:42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple <3101>, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

Disciples as Students

It has been said that the word Disciple means "One who embraces and assists in spreading the teachings of another."

But the word we see translated disciple in the Greek text is mathetes [2] from the word manthano [3] which means to to learn or be appraised. The word mathetes consistently means a pupil, someone who is learning and being examined.

  • "In Christianity, the term disciple primarily refers to students of Jesus and is found in the New Testament only in the Gospels and Acts. The New Testament records many followers of Jesus during his ministry, but only some became disciples." While we may all be learning and students of life the term disciple in the Bible was used to describe those who were studying for the ministry of the kingdom of God Christ would appoint to His trained disciples.

The word Disciple appears over 252 times.[4]


It appears mostly in the Gospels and some in the Acts of the Apostles but not in the other Epistles.

The apostles had the greatest teacher in the world but they had a lot of difficulty figuring out the nature of the Kingdom of God that was being preached by Jesus. Part of the problem was they had to unlearn what they had been taught and be humble enough to accept the truth that what they thought was true was just not so.

One of the reasons the established ministry of that kingdom in Judea at that time wanted to crucify Christ was because of what would become the conflict between those who promoted a socialist system of welfare run by governments that called themselves Benefactors but exercised authority one over the other.

There had always been two welfare types used by societies through out history. Both these system of social welfare established by different societies were called Corban in Israel and Judea. Both these systems required sacrifice, which is the meaning of Corban, from the people where what they contributed to the needs and needy of society was managed by chosen group of public servants.

There were similarities and differences in these two social systems. In both there was a daily ministration to the needy of society. In both the methods used for the collection of funds and the method by which their public ministers were chosen were different. One was top down and the other was bottom up. One used force to collect funds and the other used charity, one offered entitlements and the other hope, one depended upon allegiance and the other faith, in one the public servants exercise authority and the other they exercised love and care. One brought the people into bondage and the other set them free.

Religion was defined at the time of Christ and the the authoring of the Constitution as "practice, consisting in the performance of all known duties to God and our fellow men.” Pure religion was the performance of those duties through charitable practices while false religion was using force to provide for the welfare of society and the performance of those duties through covetous practices.

The System of Cain, Nimrod, Pharaoh and Caesar operated by forcing the contributions of the people by statutory commands while the system of Abraham, Moses, John the Baptist, Jesus Christ, the Apostles, and the early Church operated by Freewill offerings or what the Bible calls faith, hope and charity or James calls the perfect law of liberty.

The first system weakens society and increases the power of central governments through civil benefactors. The latter strengthens the individuals who gather and therefore the community itself by awakening virtue in the people and therefore provides the foundation for a free society.


Christ instituted the Church by appointing a kingdom to His disciples to be those Benefactors who do not exercise authority one over the other but feed His sheep, provided daily bread and took care of the Daily ministration of the needy in Pure religion as Rome declined.

As history is now repeating itself we desire to do what those early Christians were doing. Like the early Church we must be foreign to the state religions which includes social security.

Discipleship

A disciple was a student. Discipleship is one who accepts and assists in spreading the doctrines of another: such as. In Christianity: one of the twelve in the inner circle of Christ's followers according to the Gospel accounts.

To be a disciple is to be a student. To be a disciple of Christ was to be studying to become a minister of the doctrines of Jesus the Christ, the Messiah of the kingdom of God.

There are numerous things required to one degree or another to become that student of Christ and eventually one of the Ministers of the Church established by Jesus who was the Christ when he appointed the kingdom of God to is Little flock.

Ultimately a disciple is discipled by the Holy Spirit but the Church is to be the representative of Christ and His appointment so a disciple would have a minister who physically disciples the student.

The process of Discipling a student of Christ who seeks the self discipline of the ministry of the Holy Spirit includes:

  • an intentional, open, and deliberate commitment and investment expressing a willingness to be taught, practice, and record with a purposeful initiative.
  • Mutual encouragement through a process of personal discipline and appraisal.
  • A focus on diligent service to others as a follower of Jesus.
  • Personal conformity to the disciplines of Christ.
  • Daily expression of love and forgiveness which is an expression of patience and hope.
  • Comprehensive relationship with Christ by the confirmation of a consistent relationship with the whole body in service.

Disciples are students.

If God is calling you to be a minister of His kingdom as a part of His Holy Church and you wish to study the ways of the kingdom under the guidance of ministers in the Network you may wish to pray for a opportunity for Discipleship at White Rock.

Occasionally we will accept people here at White Rock in the high desert and/or with other ministers in a working environment to begin that life process of learning The Way of the Kingdom of God in a rigorous setting of service and sacrifice.

We will only take a limited number of applicants so it will be important to give us what type of time frame you will be able to be here or available. Also what will you be bringing in the way of skills and resources.

Filling out the application for those who are aspiring to the Ministry is part of the process. It is part of a process of prayer and personal reflection. What you write and what you do not write will reveal to us and yourself where your heart is and where it may need to go from here.

Each individual will require one on one tutelage and counseling. The more we know about you and what you are thinking or are capable of the better we may be able to decide a plan of study and work.

This will be unlike any seminary experience I have ever seen and probably any of you have ever heard about.

What to expect

There will be long hours and hard work, private lessons and one on one teaching.

Luke 14:26 If any [man] come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. 27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. 28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? 29 Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, 30 Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish. 31 Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand? 32 Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace. 33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. 34 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned? 35 It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Matthew 19:21 "Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go [and] sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come [and] follow me."

The same is also seen in Mark 10:21 and in Luke 18:22. This idea of giving up all to serve the Lord opens a door that completes the discipleship of Christ.

If you believe in Christ, His name, His character, giving up your life will become easy...

John 5:39 "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me."

Jesus is talking about the testimony of the Old Testament because that was the scripture then. And the Pharisees had twisted it so that though they studied they did not know what they read and did not know Christ when he came.

Many Christians today might not really know Christ. Knowing yourself is a major part of learning to know Christ. Trials and tribulation, serving, seeking and striving may show you The Way.

John 6:54 "Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day."

Brief essay addressing your sense of call to a ministry/vocation... listing what you think is your unique gifts for this ministry.

Essay #2: Your personal history and hopes

This will include what you have done during your life, where you are now and what you hope to accomplish.

The Aspirant Outline will help you organize this information for the record.


Theological Reflection (Brief statement)

Use the following questions to address your personal theological reflection on your personal vocation:

1. Address the question "Why His Holy Church?"

2. Grace is central to the message and ministry of Jesus. In what ways do you hope to manifest His virtue?

3. How does God speak this desire for discipleship in you heart to prepare you for the ministry?

4. What will you seek to do if you are not accepted to continue your discipleship with His Holy Church?
