Accord

In the Bible we see the word homothumadon ^[1] translated "with one accord".

It is a unique Greek word in the New Testament's Book of Acts which may help us understand the uniqueness of the Christian community.

Homothumadon is a compound of two words meaning to "rush along" and "in unison". The word homou^[2] meant together as an assembly. The word thumos ^[3] is from a word meaning passion but comes from a word meaning sacrifice.

They were assembled in one accord with their sacrifice.

Acts 1:14 These all continued with one accord <homothumadon> in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord <homothumadon> in one place.

Acts 2:46 And they, continuing daily with one accord <homothumadon> in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

Acts 4:24 And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord <homothumadon>, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:
