Zeitgeist means "the defining spirit or mood of a particular period of history as shown by the ideas and beliefs of the time."
Zeitgeist Refuted is a documentary film in response to the bold claims made in Peter Joseph's Zeitgeist the movie concerning the Christian faith. This film examines the similarities and differences of pagan religions according to history and scholarly opinion. Additionally, it explores the historicity of Jesus.
Also discussed are the Jesus Myth Theory and Astrotheology. The viewer will also see a critique of the works of Zeitgeist sources cited in the Zeitgeist bibliography such as Acharya S, Gerald Massey and Jordan Maxwell. Jesus vs. Mithra... Was Jesus based on the Persian God Mithra? Many on the internet seem to think so, and this video addresses this claim.
Piso and the Flavian Myth
Caesar's Messiah is a 2006 book of speculative non-fiction by Joseph Atwill, which argues that the New Testament Gospels were written as wartime propaganda by scholars connected to the Roman imperial court of the Flavian emperors: Vespasian, Titus and Domitian.
The Joseph Atwill's Piso/Flavian theory falls apart as soon as you find out what the character and mission of men like Moses and Jesus really were. They agreed with each other but the Pharisees did not agree with Jesus because they did not know Moses or what he actually was teaching the people.
Through false interpretation of the ancient manuscripts their meaning have become a lost to many people who image they know the truth so much so that people like Atwill are at a decided disadvantage to say nothing of their critics. If you begin with confusion more layers of confusion can easily add insult to injury.
What are they missing
Most of the early Church were actually Jews. Like the Church in the wilderness they were actually performing services for the people cast out of the Corban of Judea which Jesus had strongly objected to.
John the Baptist opposed Herod the Great's system of temple welfare which depended on forced offerings rather than the freewill offerings promoted by Moses.
If the Flavians wrote the Bible why would Jesus criticize the Corban of the Pharisees and Herod which was identical to the Qorban of Rome?
No man father
Jesus also warned the people to call no man father. Yet, everyone at that time called the Roman emperors Father. One of His titles was Patronus, which is Our Father, and all the Senators of Rome were all called the conscripti patribecause they were the Conscripted fathers of Rome who saw to the funding of the Imperial Cult of Rome which provided the free bread of the Roman welfare state.
No idolatry
To take of that system was considered idolatry by Paul because it was a covetous system of Legal charity which is idolatry.[1] The problem was the tables provided by their temples were systems of legal charity where their dainties were the wages of unrighteousness because they were provided by men who exercise authority one of the other[2] which was covetous practices which made men merchandiseaccording to Peter.
No oaths
Why would Flavius write that Jesus was commanding his people to "Swear not"?[3] And not apply to rulers of authority for benefits[2] when those systems of legal charity gave Caesar more and more power of the people.
Or why would they write that James said "But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and [your] nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation." James 5:12
These prohibitions against oaths and swearing would not be a part of the Flavian policies since an "Oath of Fidelity" was required by Vespasian, Titus, and Domitian, the entire judicial system and their gods many.
The Conflict
If people had been taught the truth about the Gospel of the Kingdom and the reason for the Christian conflict Atwill's suggestion that rebellious and violent Christians were persecuted would be seen as patently false.
The Christian conflict was because they would not sign up, usually requiring and oath, for their free bread offered at the tablse of the Roman welfare state. That persecution which began with Claudius and Marcus Aurelius continued with and the trial of the Acts of the Scillitan Martyrs who would not sign up for their welfare system.
Sons of God
There was an annual burning of incense at the temples of Rome where the faithful confirmed their allegiance and acceptance of Caesar as the Son of God.
But both Caesar and Jesus were called Savior and the Son of God. It was the difference in their means and methods which differentiated their Godhood. One called the people to repent, to think differently, to seek righteousness of the creator, while setting up a network of fervent charity to provide a social safety net[4] for His people so they would have the courage and character to attend to the weightier matters of Law.[5].
The other Son of God was the emperor of world of Rome who was also the Principas Civitas and Apotheos of that same world order bribed the people woth "treats and gratuities"[6] and searing the conscience of the people with their "appetite for benefits and the habit of receiving them by way of a rule of force and violence. The people, having grown accustomed to feed at the expense of others and to depend for their livelihood on the property of others" degenerated the masses of the empire.
One operated by faith, hope, and charity setting the captive free and the other operated by force, fear , and fealty making the people more merchandise than citizens.
The Piso/Flavian Myth is a product the false religion of the Modern Church who no longer practice Pure Religion which has allowed the conscience of the people to be seared by the covetous practices of Legal charity through the welfare states of the world.
The same persecution and denial will come when the true gospel of the Kingdom of God and His righteousness is preached again to the world. It will be the Modern Christians who will be at the core of a Christian conflict with the modern New World Order of Rome which will come into conflict with Sound Doctrine which is the Doctrines of Jesus.
Other gods
During the Second Persecution, under Domitian, A.D. 81, persecutions among the Christians would bring death by order of their magistrates who commonly were addressed as gods required a "test oath" to prove innocents. Modern Christians do not know why they called these men gods. Likewise, modern Christians don't understand who their actual gods are today.
While those emperors took oaths themselves to be High-priests of their nation But Jesus was proclaimed high-priest and King. He was king because he was the highest son of David but high-priest because of his older cousin John the Baptist who declared that Jesus was to come after him.
It is only a lack of understanding of Jesus and The Way that allows anyone to accept Atwill's premise of a Flavian authorship. If Modern Christians would fully repent and seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness with their whole heart, mind and soul they could not be seduced by the falsehoods and misdirection of Atwill and others.
Parallels
Joseph Atwill also claims that there are dozens of parallels between the Gospels and the history of Titus and his military. This requires a huge stretch of imagination. They prove nothing but the desperate hope of selling more books.
Atwill and his followers mix facts and ignore others. They fail to explain the well-documented activities of early Christians who were well known Historical characters and what they were doing. They mislead people about the persecutions of Christians and seem ignorant of the court issue that got peaceful people executed by the tens of thousands.
The makers of the film Zeitgeist try to make comparisons with many other characters of ancient history to prove Jesus was a fictional character but the sources and information they present as fact are more often incorrect or entirely fictional.
Many people are quick to jump on board their thesis for a variety of reasons but the whole truth reveals they are confused and dependent upon speculation and leaps of logic.

They are right that pagan ideas crept into what began posing as Christianity after Flavius Salerus Constantinus's First Council of Nicaea that attracted only a small number of Bishops who convened in Nicaea in Bithynia.
The people advocating that the Flavians created Christianity are mixing the creation of the Church of Flavius Salerus Constantinus with real Christians.
A thousand years later during centuries of inquisitions the Church created by Constantinus would murder millions of real Christians who were a living Church practicing Pure Religion.
Rome had become a Welfare State. That had not only made the Caesar's gods but made the people subject to the Imperial Cult of Rome in much the same way as the modern image of Rome.
Early Christians were practicing Private welfare instead of Public religion. It was the Public religion which involves the Covetous Practices that made men Merchandise and curses their children with debt.

The Fomenko phenomena
The New Chronology argues that the conventional historical chronology of Middle Eastern and European history is fundamentally flawed. The claim is that events attributed to the civilizations of the Roman Empire, Ancient Greece and Ancient Egypt actually occurred during the Middle Ages, more than a thousand years later. Evidently, all of the ancient histories of Greece, Rome, and Egypt are merely a reflection of events that occurred in the Middle Ages and that all of Chinese and Arab history are fabrications of 17th and 18th century Jesuits.
Some of these ideas are derived from the work of Russian scholar Nikolai Morozov (1854–1946) and French scholar Jean Hardouin (1646–1729). Although the New Chronology is most commonly associated with Russian mathematician Anatoly Fomenko. Critics of Fomenko's theory claim that his use of historical sources is highly selective and ignores the basic principles of sound historical scholarship. Most scientists and historians considered Fomenko's works to be either pseudoscientific or anti-scientific.
Fomenko uses a mathematical analysis of different texts, to support his idea that a lot of the purported ancient texts are in fact modern or at least no more than a 1000 years old.
Fomenko has published and sold over one million copies of his books in his native Russia. Many groups have appeared which aim to supplement his work with additional amateur research and are often more than willing to jump to definitive conclusions based on selective examination of available evidence.
The New Chronology has been compared to J. R. R. Tolkien's fantasy world and we can certainly ask is Fomenko's version fact or fancy?
So why is he so popular in Russia?
And why is his popularity growing?
Those who "Truly You Have a Dizzying Intellect." often find it "inconceivable" once they" get going" that they are barking up the wrong tree. People like Vizzini go on and on thinking they can figure out the solution when in fact both viles contain poison.
Femenko has one of those dizzying intellects. Some of his peer-reviewed papers were rejected years ago so he took his opinions to the public and eventually found a nitch where he sold over a million copies of his books.
What is Anatoly Fomenko's book "History: Fiction or Science" really all about besides selling lots of books?
Is there more we can learn from the Fomenko phenomena?
Puzzle Pieces
For a long time, it seems clear that there are vast areas of history that are absent from the school books. Who was Rome fighting in the north, east and west and why were their legions often dramatically defeated? What were those civilizations and societies doing that was different than the Roman model?
Who were they and what made them "great"?
There are also a great many things discovered in archeology that are regularly suppressed because they do not fit the academically accepted chronology of history. Anyone gathering and sharing historical data know there are taboo topics that will end scholastic acceptability and terminate grants.
Just as Egyptian Chronology has been controversial and anything that contradicts present accepted academic conclusion becomes "far out". The pride and prejudice of any academic structure must be overcome with a preponderance of the evidence that may simply not always be available.
But it is not just academia that is subject to the prejudices of pride. We all can adjust the value of data to produce the outcome of our conclusions.

Why are some people so willing to throw out everything they have learned or at least toss aside what the mainstream thinking commonly accept as true?
Anatoly Fomenko critics have suggested that Fomenko's version of history appealed to the Russian people because of a breakdown of pride due to economic and political failure. The need for self-justification is providing the momentum of an imperial consciousness to replace their disillusionment and failures of Communism in a post-Communist corporate oligarchy.
In truth, it is the same energy moving some of the Russian people to accept Fomenko's senarios tat we see in the make America great again phenomena.
There are those who will take the time like the people at [https://www.quora.com/What-are-some-arguments-against-Anatoly-Fomenkos-book-History-Fiction-or-Science Quora] to go through arguments and calculations piece by piece and point out many leaping conclusions and adjustments in the data presented by men like Anatoly Fomenko.
There is often a current of emotion motivating any ideological movement in society from Zeitgeist to the complete questioning of a historical Jesus. Ideological subversion has long been used to weaken society.
What is actually behind that motion and manipulation of the Zeitgeist Spirit of the society in which we live?
How objective are we in our quest for the whole truth?
What keeps people in society from being swept away by every current or wave?

The name "Zealot" was first used by Josephus to describe the militant Jews in the War of 66-70.
According to Josephus, the Zealot Judas called the Jews cowards if they continued paying taxes to Rome. To him, taxation was slavery having a passion for liberty.
Zealot
"The Zealots were originally a political movement in 1st century Second Temple Judaism which sought to incite the people of Judaea Province to rebel against the Roman Empire and expel it from the Holy Land by force of arms, most notably during the First Jewish–Roman War (66-70). Zealotry was the term used by Josephus for a "fourth sect" during this period."[1]
A zealot has become a person who is considered fanatical and uncompromising in pursuit of their religious, political, or other ideals. But historically he was a member of an ancient Jewish sect aiming at a world Jewish theocracy and resisting the Romans until AD 70.
The zealots and certainly the Sicarii were Jewish extremists that revolt against the Roman presence in Judea and despised Hellenistic views or any acceptance of Gentile customs. were another Jewish sect that were more extreme than the zealots. Their strict religious interpretation of what they considered to be the only acceptable doctrines coming from the ancient text. This would eventually contribute to a lack of unity because the Zealots were too selfish to believe that others forms of resistance could terminate the power of the Romans.
The Sicarii became so extreme and violent their willingness to assassinate any alternate ideological or philosophical opposition ruined the Jewish leadership by assassinating the rulers. The Sicarii fought the Romans until their defeat and mass suicide at Masada. Not far from there, according to the Jewish-Roman historian Josephus Flavius, they had plundered peaceful villages in the area including En Gedi[7] where they ruthlessly drove out the the local defenders killing over seven hundred women and children who were trapped.
They hated what they called Roman oppression and believed their foreign views and interpretation of the nature of religion had brought their present bondage and corruption. They did not understand the Torah like the Essenes. The Sadducees, The Pharisees, The Zealots were all Factions at the altar of the Hasmoneans.
The Essenes often made altars of their own. The Christian customs were much like the Essene and their approach differed from the others to the point of being persecuted violently by Romans and zealots a like.
The real oppression came from the people who learned to covet their neighbor's good through systems of welfare which David and Paul said were a snare and Peter said made you merchandise and cursed children. But it has always been easier for the proud to blame others.
It was common then as it is now to imagine that our doctrines are right and that the wicked are the others who threaten us or our way of life. The truth is the problem hits much closer to home as we my desire to judge others when we should, and must, get our own house in order first according to The Way of God and His Righteousness.
Tyrants and Tribute
Understanding where the tyranny came from in Judea requires a willingness to see our errors and contributions. In a cause and effect universe God created us in tribute is the result of sloth and tyranny is a product of cvetousness.
Rome had not conquered Israel at that time, but had been invited in to settle a civil war between two brothers back in 66 B.C. over who should be king. Hyrcanus II and Aristobulus II were fighting over the Kingdom of God. One brother got the idea to invite Pompey and his legions for benevolent aid to settle this dispute. Rome was offered reimbursement by Aristobulus. There were men trying to overthrow his government.
Under international law, Aristobulus had made the request to Rome seeking to use its might as a world police force. Many countries accepted Roman aid by treaty, and were required to pay into the Roman effort of Pax Romana in the form of a tribute, or excise tax. They created mutual obligations which bound Aristobulus and Rome to keep the peace.
Aristobulus gained Pompey's favor by giving him a gift of gold. After some complaints surfaced, Pompey personally investigated and found Hyrcanus had a better claim as rightful king by the laws of Israel.
Pompey gave the gift from Aristobulus to the poor and offered to assist the lawful king in obtaining his throne. King Hyrcanus would not appeal to Rome, but without proper authority the Pharisees did.
Pompey's troops carefully removed Aristobulus and his adherents, the Sadducees, who still occupied the Temple illegally. Rome respected the laws of other nations. It did not simply impose its personal whim, but through the reason of right and wrong and jus gentium, they decided disputes based on the specific customs and ordinances of each country.
The benefit of Rome
Jesus would not appeal to Rome, because to make treaties with other nations would be a violation of the laws of Israel,[8] which diminished the rights of the people. Christ came to return every man to those rights endowed by God (Leviticus 25:10)and to the “perfect law of liberty”.
The Romans had washed (in respect to the laws of the Jews) before entering that Herodian temple to remove Aristobulus' followers. The true defiling of the temple was at the hands of the people who had made the city a cauldron filled with the flesh of the people for the elite.[9]
The real problem
The Romans presence should not have been a problem to those following the true way taught by Moses and certainly The Way of Christ. The Jews were not at that time.
The problem was not Rome but Because of an appetite for the blood of the innocent, and a willingness to consent to the one purse that runs toward evil, the people were captured in the net of their own making which had been set to snare their neighbor for their personal welfare and gain.[10]

- “And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them:” Romans 11:9.
If the people build a city of blood through the covetous practices of the welfare state it will be their blood that is shed. Proverbs 1 warns against the common purse of socialism just as Samuel warned against a central government.
Hyrcanus was hoped by some to be the promised King and High priest.[11] But others disputed his legitimacy as heir but his tactics were the opposite of those of Christ.
Christ faced the same temptations but did not fall to the desire to exercise power over others. The Zealot often desires to force his will which often progresses to becoming the murderous extremes of the Sacarii as both assassins and commandos freedom fighters who wrought genocide before taking their own lives.
Christ called for love and faith through charity but King Hyrcanus required allegiance.[12]
At one point, there were so few priests that there was no one to even say grace at the kings table.[13]
The temptations of Christ are the same temptations for us all. The syndrome that brought Saul to death by his own hand brought the Zealots at Masada to the same fate.

Behold, an accursed man, a man of the adversary, has risen to become a fowler’s net to his people, and a cause of destruction to all his neighbours. And arose to exercise authority, also being instruments of violence. they have rebuilt a wall and towers, to make of it a stronghold of ungodliness … They have committed an abomination in the land, and a great blasphemy among the children…” [14]
This curse of Joshua seemed to fall upon the Hasmonean dynasty, specifically John Hyrcanus. The blasphemy was not so much the building of a particular city, but the turning away from God’s ways of charity and liberty by building his city of blood, and the return to the adversarial civil system of Belial, the “worthless or wicked”, a return to the bondage of Egypt.
Until the Zealots of the world choose to Repent of their covetous practices they will fight without God's grace and protections.
