Cloud in Hebrew

One of the most common words translated cloud in the Old Testament is ‘anan[1] appearing more than 80 times. It is said to be from the verb anan[2] meaning "to make appear" or "soothsaying".

Cloud the Greek

In the New Testament we see the word cloud consistently translated from the Greek word nephele [3] it is from the Greek term nephos[4] which appears only once but is also translated "cloud" but can mean a dense multitude.

There are other words like Nephthaleim[5] who was the sixth son of Jacob, the second child borne to him by Bilhah, Rachel’s maid servant. His descendants formed the tribe of Naphtali. It was said to mean "wrestling" and has a Hebrew origin Naphtaliy[6] often appearing as the Hebrew letters NunPieTavLamedYod.
